ATTITUDE FOR WINNING AT WORK PLACE
Believe in yourself: Yes, your mental attitude will determine how productive you will be on the job and indeed, in your life in general. See yourself as valuable. See your job as valuable. Become a winner! Stop looking down on your self. Have a positive mindset and self-esteem. Be happy and enjoy your job for as long as it lasts.
Believe in your product: Yes, indeed you should believe in the product or service you are selling or presenting. Consider how good it is and how useful and beneficial it is to the users. If the product is substandard, think of how you can immediately improve the quality. Who knows if you are there on a mission to bring about a positive change? Charity begins at home. With you the employee. If you believe in your product and get enthusiastic about it, this attitude will rub off your colleagues and also on your potential customers or target. If your product or service is anti-human or it is intrinsically faulty, change job, so that you can reserve your good attitude and enthusiasm for a good product or service.
See your time at work as an opportunity to make an impact: Every hour you spend at work should be productive time. See your daily or weekly assignment as an opportunity to bring your skills and experience to bear. Be eager to make a positive impact. Make good things happen in your office and make yourself invaluable.
Don’t be discouraged when you are not encouraged, recognised or appreciated: Be self-motivated. Don’t wait for the encouragement or praises of others. Don’t become demoralised if you do not get an immediate commendation from your ingenuity, hardwork or excellent inputs. Realize that your reward is surely coming. Even if man doesn’t see it immediately, God does and He will ultimately reward your faithfulness.
Be humble enough to ask questions or seek for help from superiors, colleagues or subordinates: Somebody knows something you don’t. Somebody has the wisdom you’ve been asking. Ask questions. Seek for assistance, ideas or help when you meet with challenges on the job. One suggestion from your colleagues or team could bring much required solution you’ve been seeking. Don’t die in silence or make the company suffer because of your ignorance, incompetence or inadequacy. Be a team worker and achiever. Above all, always pray to the Almighty God for wisdom for winning everyday at work.
Develop and preserve your integrity: Integrity should be your watch word in everything you do. Be honest, sincere and effective. Resist every temptation to cut corners so that you don’t short circuit your progress. Don’t steal. Don’t slander. Be careful of what you say or how you react under pressure. Don’t become diabolic in your pursuit of favour or promotion. Above all, realize that God the almighty watches every move you make. He is your ultimate supervisor, manager and employer. There, maintain a clean slate before man and God. Trials and temptations may come, but if you preserve your integrity, you will ultimately win, not only in the work place, but in your personal life as well. You will therefore become the young man or lady whose name will be engraved in gold, in the success story of your organization. Always be a winner.
