JOS – LAGOS DIRECT SERVICE BEGINS
Associated Bus Company, operators of ABC Transport Plc, has officially commented the Jos – Lagos Long Haul Direct operations. The flag-off took place on Tuesday, 27th June 2006, and was kick-started with a series of rally around the Jos metropolis. The event, which also included the Opening Ceremony of the Jos Terminal, was elaborate and drew the presence of the Commissioner of Transport, Mallam Yohanna Ivan, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Hon. Yakubu Dati and HRH Ezedigbo 1 of Jos, Eze Chidi Ejinbe. Other notable personalities from the Tourism Board, National Film Corporation and banking sectors, like Diamond Bank, First Bank, UBA and Union Bank, also graced the occasion. Not left out were important officers from the military and paramilitary forces.
Speaking at the occasion, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Frank Nneji (OON), said that, “the bus service in Jos has become inevitable due to the increasing demands by our customers. Their interests lie at the very core of our operations…” the Jos – Lagos direct service will ply both ways and is essentially an Executive Express Service. It should be noted that before now, operations at the Jos terminal consisted of the Jos – Abuja Daily Shuttle Service.
AWKA, AKWANGA START OPERATIONS Mr. Anthony Ezeolisa and Mr. Lawrence Omattah have been deployed as Station Heads, Awka and Akwanga Terminals respectively. Both terminals have since started operations. Awka Terminal is situated at Fesoil Filling Station by ABS Station, Arroma Junction, Awka, Anambra State, while Akwanga Terminal is located at 60, Jos Road, beside NYSC Zonal Office, Akwanga, Nasarawa State.
