ABC Transport Company, Nigeria’s leading passenger transport service, has introduced additional trucks to
enhance its consolidated tracking service nationwide. The cargo division of ABC Transport, branded
Cargo Express, has served as a complimentary service to users of ABC Transport passenger transport service
since inception. The Cargo Express service has traditionally offered customers the opportunity of sending
mails, parcels, and goods (as waybills) to consignees who pick them up at indicated ABC Transport terminals.
Due to the demands occasioned by the increasing growing economic activities in the country, the Company has
decided to deploy additional trucks and handling facilities at all its locations nationwide. Taking delivery
of an additional 5 trucks, made up of Mercedes and Mitsubishi brands, the General Manager (Operations) of
ABC Transport, Mr. Desmond Amiegbebhor, a chartered transportant, assured its numerous clients that “with
the new facilities, freighting services across the country will now be greatly enhanced with the daily
trucking arrangement.”
With a truck fleet capacity of 20, ABC Transport’s customers will now enjoy more premium services and get more
assured of faster service delivery. Moreover, this is a welcome development as it comes up at the approach of the
Christmas period when there is intense carriage of goods across the nation.
All these attest to the fact that ABC Transport is essentially customer-oriented, and this has been and still is
evident in its characteristic desire to satisfy long distance travels within and outside the country. Avid
watchers of the automobile industry will readily agree that one indubitable quality of ABC Transport has
been its meticulous attention to the varied needs and desires of its esteemed customers.
Little wonder the Company has intensified its adoption of the use of information technology to enhance
transportation by introducing tracking system for location and speed control of its vehicles, installing a
Wide Area Network (WAN) which will enhance the ticketing process and enable travelers purchase tickets
from the comfort of their homes and offices. ABC Transport hopes to enhance payments for tickets and petty
cash need of its highly-esteemed customers via this online facility, thereby making services faster, easier
and more convenient.
Also, the company now runs a computerized tracking system which has since been installed to monitor location
and speed limit of buses. It has a GPS tracking facility and is coordinated from the company’s Hub in Owerri.
It is important to note that ABC Transport has, yet again, been given the
Best Land Transporter for the
year 2005 award at the 9th Travellers Award. This year also, ABC Transport received a safety award from
the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), also a very distinguished award as the Most Organized Road
Transport Company in Nigeria by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) in Nigeria.
