ABC Transport Clinches Best Land Transporter Award at the 9th Travelers Award and Exhibition
ABC Transport has, once more, distinguished itself as the most popular brand in the coach passenger service industry of Nigeria. So, it came as no surprise at all that on the 29th of October, 2005 at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos, the Company was, yet again, bestowed with the enviable Award for Best Land Transporter for the year 2005.

It is on record that the advent of ABC Transport marked a turning point in the industry, giving the coach operation a human corporate look as against its previous agbero outlook that was rife then. One would then readily attest that it was a well deserving award for ABC Transport, which has given a source of comfort and safety to thousands of travelers over the years.

Receiving the award on behalf of the Company, the Executive Director, Mr. Jude Nneji, expressed his appreciation to the organizers of the 9th Travellers Awards and Exhibition. He also assured customers of ABC Transport’s continuous drive to excel and retain its sterling service quality. The 9th Travellers Awards and Exhibition, which took place on Saturday, 29th October 2005 at the Eko Hotel & Suites, was indeed a landmark for the travel and tourism industry in Nigeria. Backed by the Federal Government through the agencies of Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), and Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the 2005 Travellers Awards lived up to its expectations. As evidenced in its theme: Selling Nigeria to Nigerian , the ceremony truly and elaborately attracted the high-flyers (firms and individuals) of the travel and tourism community. This was an occasion of glitz and glamour that witnessed the presence of notable persons and organizations.

The Minister of Tourism, Chief Frank Ogbewu was there to officially declare open the Awards and Exhibition, which feature over twenty important companies from the airlines, hotels, catering schools, fast food, coach transport and car rentals, recreation and entertainment resorts, IT firms, etc. Most popular amongst them were Virgin Atlantic, Sosoliso, Hertz car rental, Swift car rental, the West African Collection, Meridien Hotels, Mr. Biggs, Wavecrest Catering College, Teledom, EIL Telecom, Clador Home Centre, etc.

Decided by a public vote on the Internet, ABC Transport was nominated first as the Best Land Transporter, and ratified by a select committee to actually ratify the poll results. This Award was significantly in recognition of the contribution of ABC Transport to the development of travel and tourism in Nigeria. The Travellers Awards is an annual event for the Travel Industry organized by Travellers Weekend Limited, publishers of African Travel Quarterly (ATQ), the nation’s number one most informative and refreshing travel magazine. It is managed by Mr. Ikechi Uko.

Meanwhile, of immense mention is another award that was bestowed on ABC Transport, months earlier, by the Chartered Institute of Accountants (ICAN), Owerri. This was the Award for Excellence in Transport Management. Just recently, on the 27th of October, 2005 an Award of Excellence in Business was conferred on Mr. Frank Nneji, the Managing Director of ABC Transport at the Investiture/ Induction of Council of the Aba Chamber of Commerce, Mines and Agriculture (ACCIMA), one of the internationally-acclaimed Chambers of Commerce in Nigeria, bestowed. This Award was engendered by his unwavering drive and contribution to the economic growth of Nigeria and West Africa in the area of efficient transport delivery.

Of course, ABC Transport has persistently strove to maintain its premium services. Enshrined in its focus, is its unwavering stand not to compromise its mission and vision. Thus, ABC Transport has remained essentially customer-oriented, and this has been and still is evident in its characteristic desire to satisfy long distance travels within and outside the country.

As part of its preparation to satisfy its teeming customers towards a successful Yuletide celebration, ABC Transport has expanded its fleet by taking delivery of an additional 5 trucks, made up of Mercedes and Mitsubishi brands. This, therefore, brings it to a truck fleet capacity of over eighteen. Expectedly, the customers will now enjoy more premium services for they are assured of faster service delivery and carriage of goods across the nation.

Also the Training, the Traffic & Safety Departments of ABC Transport have put plans in place to re-train and re-orientate the driving crew on the critical need to observe safety measures and defensive driving practices during the ember months. It should be recalled that some months ago the Company received a Safety Award from the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).
