ABC COMMENCES JOS-LAGOS OPERATIONS; CONSOLIDATES TERMINAL EXPANSIONS

Since ABC Transport's entry into the road transport sub-sector in 1993, the company has, through consummate consistency and groundbreaking originality, emerged the most organized road transport brand in Nigeria and in the West Coast of Africa. In response to recent demands of residents in major cities in Plateau, Nasarawa, Gombe and Bauchi States , ABC Transport has commenced a novel operations tagged Jos-Lagos long-haul. It is a daily bus service that will run on the premium Executive Express fleet, which parades a fully-air-conditioned facility; food, drink and TV on-board; soft executive reclineable seats; on-board toilet facility; courteous/disciplined crew; non-stop service, etc. Although, ABC Transport's presence in Jos dates as far back as late 2004, but it started an intercity operations with a modest fleet of 14-seater micro buses running as Shuttle Service between Jos and Abuja both ways.

At present, the Jos terminal will now offer comprehensive passenger and cargo haulage services. It is located at 7/9, Lugard Road , former UTC Motors, Jos, Plateau State . Information from the desk of the Group Head, Operations and Logistics, Mr. Desmond Amiegbebhor, revealed that there will be a flag-off ceremony to mark the Jos-Lagos Long-Haul Operations and a ceremonial ride around the Tin City . This ceremony will hold on Tuesday, 27 th June, 2006 at the Jos terminal.

One then might not be too presumptuous to hope that the citing of ABC Transport in this scenic town of rolling hills and lush valleys would witness the establishment of other model terminals of the company in neighbouring states like Bauchi, Gombe and Nasarawa.

Notably, ABC Transport has opened a bus station beside Fesoil Filling Station, by ABS Station, Awka, Anambra State , as a complement to its operations in Onitsha . The Awka terminal will service trips to Abuja and Lagos . There would also be a flag-off ceremony to fully publicize the presence of the company in this urbane city. Plans are almost being completed to relocate a couple of terminals of the company from their extant locations, with a view to giving customers more convenient and accessible locations.

Umuahia terminal would now be moved to Mission Hill, close to Michael Opara Roundabout, while an ultra-modern terminal is being erected for Port Harcourt within the serene vicinity of Airport Road . Customers have shown some degree of enthusiasm with the relocation of these two strategic terminals and have sent in letters commending the strides of the company as gathered in a recent chat with the Corporate Services and Marketing Department.

The ultra-modern terminal has remained one of ABC Transport's most physical attributes, beside its colourful, reindeer-dubbed luxurious buses. Founded on its template of innovation, ABC Transport celebrated the millennium by establishing the first ultra-modern terminus in West Africa , with a spectacular event in the Federal Capital Territory , Abuja in 2001; an occasion which attracted the crème de la crème of the Nigerian society and other international stakeholders. Yet, the company strove on, setting up two other prototype ultra modern terminals in Owerri and Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos , in 2003 and 2004.
