STAFF CHAT AND BIRTHDAYS
STAFF CHAT
Mrs Nene Kalu joined the company in March 2002 as a Teller. She is happily married with a son. She has learnt so much and as come across a lot of people with different characters. Her experience on the job has helped her to grow, to be patient and relate very well with all kinds of human beings; both easy going and difficult to please people. Her gains, she said, are not far from her experiences. She has built her character to have patience. Mrs Nene Kalu has contributed so much to the growth of the company by encouraging customer/staff relationship, thus making staff have confidence in themselves. She expects to see ABC Transport have a bigger cargo service delivery, sophisticated infrastructural facilities. If given a chance in Management, she will introduce a viable staff welfare scheme, which can encourage staff to collect car loan. She says she does not see any thing wrong for junior staff to ride on cars and the interest should be little. For Mrs Nene Kalu, criteria for promotion are hard work, dedication and sincerity and should not be judge based on the number of years spent in service. She advises staff to put in their best while doing their job.
Mazi Okwudiri Kanu: joined the company in 2002 as an accounts officer. He is happily married with a daughter. His experience on the job has been good. He has equally learnt a lot on how to deal with journals, cash book, payments, cash transfer and MD’S report. He believes he has contributed a lot to the growth of the company and still willing to do more. Mazi Okwudiri Kanu expressed satisfaction to Mr Frank Nneji for his initiative tailored towards making ABC the first road transport company to be listed on the floor of the stock market and the commencing of the e-ticketing. If given a chance in Management, he will introduce quarterly training of staff, especially those in the cargo section. Also the 50% surcharge for customers who miss the bus should be erased and alternatively put such a customer into another available bus or reschedule them as most of the customers are first timers. He will also consider increasing staff salary to avoid fraudulent act. For him, promotion of staff should come regularly and based on hard work and sincerity. His advice to his colleagues, especially those in Accounts department, is that they should try much as possible to keep their hands clean because it is not easy to deal with cash. They should be wise and make sure there are no shortage and cash lost.
Mr. Egbujuo Damain Okechukwu: joined the company in October, 2001 as an Auditor. He is happily married with three kids. His experiences have been very interesting since the graduation of the company to a Public Liability Company (PLC). He has worked under four heads of department and served under four resident auditors before becoming a resident auditor. Mr Egbujuo says that being an Auditor is not easy as you step on people’s toes to make the work move. According to him, he has lived within his means and not above his earnings. He has contributed a lot to the company in that he brought measures in which the workshop expenses in Abuja were drastically reduced from N2.5million to N1million per month, which they have maintained except during peak periods. He expects ABC to be a dominant transport company within the West Africa Sub region. If in Management, he would emphasis on training for existing manpower either internal or external. His sees output and discipline as the major factors to consider for promotion. According to him, respect for rules and regulations guards the company. His advice goes especially for the new staff. They should not be in a hurry, but should pay attention to details to enable them learn from their superiors and with time they will equally grow
